I sculpt the original piece in clay ,wax ,etc. and then molds are taken of it . Then , through many intensive steps and processes the cast bronze piece is accomplished. The results are both timeless in their durability and stunning .
During the years 1996-97 I created the sculpture " Who Goes There".
This large cast bronze piece ( 40 cm high x 58 cm long x 40 cm wide ) has two Grizzly Bears on a eroded and shattered section of rock which is fixed on a walnut burl base. Both the bears and rocks were sculpted in wax , then molds were taken of each of the 3 pieces which enabled me to have all the pieces cast into bronze.
I put a patina on the finished bronze which protects the metal and gives a translucency to the surface. This is the first of 30 castings of the piece and can be purchased for $10,000.oo US.
When two male grizzly bears meet , they show off their size to each other ,and if one is bigger , the smaller one will usually leave .If both bears are around the same size then they will fight to see who is dominant.

This is a photo of the sculpted clay original of the koho salmon ( 4 ft. sq.) panel from which a mold was taken so that a copy in cast bronze could be made . Each panel took me 8 days to model.
My last commission in 1996 was for Smed International Inc .. I was asked to make a bronze plaque with the faces of the Owner's parents on it which took me one month . I sculpted the original in wax and made a mold of it to facilitate the production of a cast bronze plaque that was installed at the owner's estate outside Calgary AB. .A second copy was later commissioned for the Smed Head Office and Manufacturing Plant . I applied a patina to the ( 60 cm high x 80 cm wide x 5 cm thick ) panel for protection and the color allows for visual contrast in the surface of the metal .
